Graduating from social studies and history at the Faculty of Arts (University of Ljubljana), Jaka has pursued his career both as a photographer as well as a cinematographer since 1996. Between 1998 and 2006 he worked as the editor of photography for the Slovenian-Croatian skateboard magazine Pendrek. His work as an author (director / director of photography / editor) includes several renowned Slovenian skateboard movies, such as Damage (2002) and Listen to Srecna Mladina (2006). He received a special award for realization at 7th Festival of Slovenian Independent Film for the former and an award for his camera work at 10th Festival of Slovenian Independent Film for the latter. He co-founded the trans-Balkan street magazine Kontejner in 2006, which he remained the editor of until 2009. Throughout his career as a photographer he has participated with his works at several exhibitions such as:

  • "Babnik and Friends" (2005); Kazamat Gallery (Osijek/Croatia),
  • "6x3" (2006); Le Boxx Art Show (Malmo/Sweden),
  • "Art of Asfalt"; Studentski Centar (Zagreb/Croatia), Ooze Festival (Korčula/Croatia), Hiša kulture (Pivka/Slovenia), Skateboard Museum (Stuttgart/Germany).
  • "We are dogs!" (2010); Galerija Fotografija (Ljubljana/Slovenia), as part of a group exhibition ""16/16 - taste of painting" at Equrna Gallery (Ljubljana, Slovenia), Espai B (Barcelona/ Spain/2013). This series also earned him a second place award at 2010 Emzin Photography of the year in Slovenia.
  • Jaka currently works as a freelance photographer and is a co-owner of Rostfrei Publishing House.
